Leq'á:mel Forestry Limited Partnership (LFLP)
Leq’á:mel Forestry Limited Partnership (LFLP) has has good operational success and continues to work with Leq’á:mel First Nation to identify new forestry opportunities. Leq’á:mel successfully completed the initial Forest and Range Agreement which was an exciting beginning for the community. The acquired funds are set aside for future economic development and this agreement will add to our abilities for investment.
Leq’á:mel Forestry Limited Partnership (LFLP) acquired an Non Replaceable Forest License (NRFL) A79504 on September 25, 2009 with an Annual Allowable Cut of 9,112 m3 and a 5 year cut control of 45,560 m3. NRFL A79504 has an available harvest volume remaining of 46,572 m3 with an expiry date on the license of September 24, 2026. A business partner was engaged as the forestry contractor to perform the work under the forestry license.
Small volume forest licenses, such as this, are usually managed to harvest the entire five-year cut in one project. This approach captures efficiencies for logging and road building rates as well as reducing mobilization costs associated with smaller projects. Harvesting the entire five year cut in one project has been the strategy for managing the LFLP forestry license in the past.
LFLP continues to pursue additional opportunities in the Forestry sector.
